Wild West family vacations in Florida: Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo

If you are a fan of Florida outdoor activities and adventures just like me, Westgate River Ranch Resort and Rodeo is the perfect spot for you! I was super excited about visiting this beautiful place in one of the last untouched pieces of Florida’s wilderness, as I adore animals and adventures. I had the best time in this gorgeous place for three reasons.

This ranch offers one of the best glamping experiences in Florida, delicious food, and particularly entertaining activities. 

BEST GLAMPING EXPERIENCES IN FLORIDA

The accommodations of Westgate River Ranch Resort are extra comfortable. I would say that this glamping in Florida experience is super relaxed and comfortable as it offers the opportunity of outdoor camping but in a comfortable and luxurious cabin. 

The best part of this glamorous camping in Florida was that the cabin had air conditioning, a full bathroom, microwave, refrigerator, and a cozy king-size bed to make me feel at home. In short, the Glamping cabins have everything you need! One of my favorite things about glamping in Florida was waking up in the morning seeing the first light with an outstanding view of nature.

When we first arrived at Westgate River Ranch Resort, they welcomed us with a delicious dish of dessert and fruit in the cabin. In the morning, they offered a yummy breakfast to enjoy while watching the sunrise in the landscape. This is the reason why I tell you this is glamorous camping in Florida.

 And not to mention the exquisite restaurants to savor gourmet meals for dining and restaurants. I visited the Westgate Smokehouse Grill, the top place to eat at Westgate River Ranch Resort and Rodeo, which prepares a delicious steak and a variety of other dishes that for sure you cannot miss!

The activities that you can do are awesome! Westgate River Ranch Resort offers an enormous diversity of outdoor activities that recreate the days of the old West but with modern upgrades. From pet farms to diverse rides and even trap shooting. Westgate River Ranch Resort will certainly have the right outdoor activity in Florida just for you, regardless of your personality.

On the first day at Westgate River Ranch Resort, we did horseback riding. One of the best outdoor activities in Florida, where we had a good time leisurely riding through unspoiled trails. One of the things that caught my attention while riding was that I saw baby alligators across a river! Awesome, right?

During this wildlife watching in Florida encounter, I connected with nature and explored the traditions of the retired horsemen as we passed through the woods and noticed riding saddles engraved in the trees.

On the other hand, we went to the petting farm at Westgate River Ranch Resort and Rodeo. One of my top favorite experiences of wildlife watching in Florida, because I encountered friendly animals like ostriches, mini kangaroos, donkeys, cows, and horses. I liked that this was a place where you could safely meet, pet, and feed gentle animals while taking cute photos.

The next day we went for The Swap Buggy Ride, which is like a giant tractor to have an expedition to view the plenty of natural Florida wildlife. This is for sure perfect if you are looking for outdoor activities in Florida. During the Swap Buggy Ride, you get to explore the landscape by passing through a swamped field. 

Another fun thing was the Westgate River Ranch Resort’s Trap & Skeet Range because it had everything I needed for a day of target practice in a safe, controlled environment. They provide the equipment, and you just get to have fun.

Last but not least, Westgate River Ranch Resort offers the airboat ride where you get the chance to experience the beauty along the Kissimmee River. During this adventure, you can scan the wildlife of Florida’s Everglade. The coolest species to see here are the lots of alligators catching some sun rays as you go. I would say that this could be an unforgettable experience suitable for all ages, but especially for those who want memorable Wild West vacations in Florida.

Westgate River Ranch Resort and Rodeo was super fun! I love that you can spend time in outdoor activities in Florida, connect with nature, and have fun but comfortably and safely.

My tips for outdoor vacations in Florida

Okay, now it is time to give you my recommendations and helpful info that I would take the next time I visit Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo or other outdoor vacations in Florida.

First, bring snacks! You will be spending a lot of time outside, especially if you plan to engage in diverse outdoor activities in Florida. You will need to have a snack from time to time. However, Westgate River Ranch Resort has a store available and even a Starbucks so that you don’t starve yourself or your loved ones.

Don´t forget to put on enough insect repellent. Especially during summer vacations in Florida where there are millions of mosquitos, don’t forget to put on repellent so that you can feel more relaxed and ready to enjoy glamping in Florida.

Put on comfy but fashionable outfits! Westgate River Ranch Resort has super cool backgrounds for photos. You can’t miss the chance to take some gorgeous photos to post on your social media wearing your best boots and hat to match the wild west experience.

 A good pair of boots is a must for these days, as well as a cowboy hat. If you are planning to do horseback riding, wear jeans as these are a requirement to stay safe during this entertaining Florida outdoor activity.

From pony rides to rock climbing and zip line, there are tons of activities that children will never get tired of. Make sure to give the finishing touch to your Florida outdoor vacations by coming on Saturday and attending the Night Rodeo to watch rodeo athletes from across the country compete in trick riding, barrel racing, and bull riding.

If you want to spend glamping in Florida without having to leave your pet home alone, Westgate River Ranch Resort is the place for you and your furry friend.

Westgate River Ranch Resort is definitely and without doubt a perfect place for family vacations in Florida, with lots of stories to tell and amazing photos to take. I had the best time at this ranch and would highly recommend it!
