Visit Tupelo: Elvis Presley tour and Tupelo gastronomy

Hi there! I am so excited to tell you about my last quick and pleasant vacation in Tupelo. I was super curious about what makes this city so famous because it is nothing less than Elvis Presley’s birthplace, the King of Rock and Roll.

Furthermore, I discovered so much more than that. Tupelo is also a gorgeous town full of kindhearted people, lots of history, fun activities, and delicious food that my friends from my Tupelo helped me get to know. I had the best time there, along with Claudia Caminero, my travel partner, throughout this experience in Mississippi.

Experience in Tupelo

I couldn’t stop noticing the warmth of the people as soon as I arrived in Tupelo. I loved that every person I met had a positive attitude, was willing to answer questions about the city, and always advised where to go at Tupelo so that we wouldn’t miss any important place.

From the restaurants and tours to the art class, everyone was so nice and ensured the best experience in Tupelo, making me feel at home. Another thing I enjoyed so much was making new friends during the art class and Queen’s Reward Meadery. I felt so comfortable while walking down the streets and taking photos of the murals, as the town’s vibe is so positive

Overall Leisure: What to do in My Tupelo?

f you are wondering what to do in Mississippi, Tupelo is a must to visit. There are many activities to do. If you love taking photos on cool backgrounds for Instagram, you cannot miss the murals in Tupelo’s downtown. Claudia and I had the best time having a photoshoot where there are lots of murals of Elvis Presley and the City of Tupelo.

Now let’s talk about Elvis Presley’s birthplace. We had the chance to do the Elvis’ Tupelo Driving Tour, where we visited the house where he grew up, which is now a museum. We visited the Tupelo Hardware Company, where Elvis Presley purchased his first guitar. Did you know this store still sells guitars?

Elvis Presley’s birth city is super cool because I got to learn more about the story of the rock star in the place where everything happened and even while listening to his music. And to complete the tour, we made a stop at the Assembly of God Church, where Elvis Presley’s family attended and where he was impacted by gospel music.

We stood at Hilton Garden Inn at Tupelo, and it was excellent, it was clean and comfortable, and I would highly recommend it if you are planning vacations in Tupelo.

In downtown Tupelo, we visited the Caron Gallery and checked out some awesome paintings with stories from talented artists and the Gumtree Museum of Art. If you are an art fan and don’t know what to do at Tupelo, this is something you cannot miss.

Another great activity to do at Tupelo is to explore the Civil Rights & African American Heritage Trail. We had a good time there because through a ride you get to learn about six Tupelo makers that tell the story of the Tupelo black community who fought for justice during the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s.

There is a lot of history behind Elvis Presley’s birth city, which is worth exploring, and different activities for every taste.

Tupelo gastronomy: I felt like an artist while I enjoyed meals.

I love food! I enjoy trying new meals in new places, and Tupelo was no exception. Visiting the FarmHouse was such a fun experience in Tupelo because we had a delicious and healthy lunch. It is so cool because you can build up your bowl in a personalized way. I found this great, as I always try to eat as healthy as possible even while traveling.

At the FarmHouse, we had an art class after lunch. We created some Tupelo Art, inspired by Elvis Presley with the help of the amazing Bev Crossen & Jennifer Meadows, who instructed Claudia and me the whole time. We had such a nice afternoon. The best part is that we kept the artcraft as a memory of this experience in Mississippi.

While on vacation in Tupelo there are many places to have breakfast at. PoPsy was another of my favorite places in downtown Tupelo because it offered toasts and smoothie bowls. And I am a huge fan of açai bowls. Also, Butterbean Biscuits & Coffee and Connie’s Fried Chicken are excellent places to start the mornings.

When it comes to lunch, Café 212 was another good place to eat at. And I couldn’t miss mentioning Pizza vs. Tacos. All of these restaurants were so good! If you are on vacation in Mississippi, you have a huge list of places to eat at. Also, at Butterbean Biscuits & Coffee, we met Phyllis Sims, a member of the Heritage trails Enrichment Program, who took us on the ride.

For lunch, I enjoyed Sweet Tea & Biscuits Café and also met the owner, Beverly Blaylock.

My vacation in Tupelo’s all-time favorite was the Queen’s reward Meadery where we had a tour and liquor tasting. I was so impressed with the first meadery in Tupelo, the mead was so delicious and the service excellent. It is worth making a stop here.

And when it comes to Tupelo foodies, the cooking class was perfect! This one was an experience that allowed me to discover other cultures as I met women from around the world that live in Tupelo, and we could learn  to make native foods. During this class, we learned Nigerian recipes and made some new friends.

My tupelo’s itinerary for each day was super! I think they did cover everything so that we could actually explore every spot of Tupelo. And if you are wondering where to go in Mississippi, Tupelo is a city worth visiting.
