Hello, beautiful! I am back with more travel tips for your next adventure. This time we are going to one of my favorite corners of the world: Tulum, Mexico. Traveling in Mexico and discovering its magical surroundings is something we all should do at least once in our lives. Tulum is a highly recommended option for those looking for a little luxurious getaway.
This time, I decided to stay in Papaya Playa Project, a luxurious eco-friendly resort next to the Caribbean. It was such an innovative experience. It is one of the best hotels Tulum I have ever stayed in.
Also, knowing what to eat and what to expect is super important so you won’t struggle on your next vacation, so I will give you my best restaurants Tulum recommendations.
Best Hotels Tulum: Papaya Playa Project Redefines Eco-friendly
Papaya Playa Project is one of the best hotels Tulum with an eco-friendly vibe. It offers three different modern and luxurious concepts, including Villas, Cabanas, and, Casitas. The Villas are the most incredible beach houses you will ever stay in, the Cabanas are perfect if you want something a little more rustic, and if you want a unique room with features such as a private dipping pool, the Casitas are for you.
Whether you want to reconnect with yourself or have a romantic getaway with your partner, Papaya Playa Project is perfect for finding peace of mind. I stayed in one of the Casitas, and my experience was out of this world. Sustainably designed, the Casitas are super cozy for a weekend away and feature a terrace with fantastic ocean views.
After relaxing in my room, I decided to explore the gastronomic offers of Papaya Playa Project. The hotel features a restaurant with local Mexican cuisine and signature cocktails, and their Sunday Rooftop Sessions include live DJ performances.
Their beach club is great to go to with friends. There is everything from simple traditional dishes and culinary delicacies for every need. I love their Vegan and gluten-free options because not only are they delicious, but they help me stay healthy during my vacation.
You will also never get bored at Papaya Playa Project. They have a wide art collection featuring the Star Collector, the Global Pledge, and the Gratitude Tree. They encourage the preservation of their culture and support sustainable opportunities for locals. I love knowing there is a good purpose behind this place.
Finally, if you’re looking to fully connect with yourself and recharge, they have immersion activities such as their Pranayama workshop, morning yoga, the meditative Authenticity Journey, and the Love Immersion. These are all included in your stay, but if you want to check them out regardless of where you’re staying, they are USD 25. These are so worth checking out.
Best Hotels Tulum: Get in Touch with Nature at Azulik Tulum
If you’re looking for other eco-friendly options, Azulik Tulum is an eco-friendly hotel located between the jungle and the Caribbean sea. It has a boho chic concept, and all of its villas are specially curated to suit the needs of every guest.
Azulik Tulum has 48 villas in total with no air conditioning, television, or electric light. This is mainly to preserve their eco-philosophy and encourage guests to get in touch with nature. They do feature a terrace where you can see the most breathtaking sunsets and sunrises.
Every villa in Azulik Tulum has a different concept, featuring the Aqua Villa, the Sea Villa, the Sky Villa, the Moon Villa, the Jungle Villa, the Mayan Villa, and the Aztec Villa. Locals and their crafts beautifully decorate all Villas.
Azulik Tulum has delicious options to eat. It features three restaurants and a mezcaleria. Kin Toh, their treetop restaurant, will give you the best local cuisine with a special touch. Tseen Ja merges Japanese and Mexican cuisine, and the Jungle Cuisine uses a new menu every night according to their available ingredients. I loved my experience at Kin Toh. Their highly acclaimed food is worth trying!
Azulik Tulum has a very famous art venue, the SFER IK Museion. It is currently one of the best destinations for contemporary art in the region, and even if you are not a guest, you can visit their spaces. It features exhibitions by Francisco Uh May, workshops, and artistic residences. This is a must-do activity in Tulum.
If you are someone who is looking for a little break from the craziness of everyday life, Papaya Playa Project and Azulik Tulum are your best options. You truly feel like you can disconnect from it all in these concept hotels. And the best part? Even if you’re not a guest, you can enjoy their restaurants and fun activities at an additional cost.
Best Restaurants Tulum: Where to Eat and Go for Drinks in Tulum
One of my favorite restaurants in Tulum is RosaNegra. It features the best Latin American cuisine from countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico. It has a boho chic style, but it is very glamorous. Not only is it a perfect spot to have delicious food, but they also serve the most amazing drinks making this an ideal place to go with your friends or partner for a romantic date. The restaurant is super famous for its Kobe beef, don’t forget to try it.
Taboo Tulum is the best option for Mediterranean food and one of the best beach clubs in Tulum. Their spaces are unmatchable, perfect for pictures. I love going to this club with friends. We always indulge in lots of champagne and seafood. They use fresh ingredients and make sure you enjoy authentic Mediterranean cuisine.
If you’re traveling to Mexico, don’t forget to take these recommendations with you and send them to anyone interested in visiting this paradise! Tulum is truly one for the books.
