I love being Latina, it is a great privilege to have been born in a Latin country and to have inherited so many beautiful cultural treasures. The customs, the food, the beautiful landscapes, the human warmth and many other aspects for which I am proud.
I am originally from Venezuela, and my mother is originally from Margarita, a beautiful Venezuelan island in the Caribbean. So, you can imagine that I really enjoy the beaches, sun and delicious food from the sea. I was born and raised in Maracaibo, a beautiful Venezuelan city, what most characterizes its people are its joy and warmth, its human warmth.
For me, the family is first, we always get together to celebrate important dates and holidays. We enjoy every special occasion with music, dance and food. For that reason, I celebrate Latin heritage month 2021.
The most significant thing about being Latina, especially Venezuelan, are the values learned in Latin America which I treasure in my mind and heart, it is a feeling that is almost impossible to describe. The brotherhood, empathy, optimism and enthusiasm of Venezuelan culture are deeply rooted in me.
It has not been easy for me to be away from my family and to live in a country where the culture was not what you grew up with, surely you, Latin woman, feel like me. For this reason, this September we cannot stop celebrating Latinx heritage month 2021, to remember how valuable our roots are, our childhood and youth, family and cultural customs that we adore as Latinas.
If you are Latin, you have to honor Hispanic Heritage Month
The United States is a beautiful country, full of diversity of cultures and customs, including a large Latino community. I have not felt so alone in this country, thanks to the Latin influence in Miami. Every time I meet a Latina, she is like a sister to me.
Latinx Heritage Month is a special month that was created as a commemoration of the great contributions that the Latino and Hispanic community has made to the United States.
During this Hispanic Heritage month, the National Park Service, some museums in the country and other important institutions such as the National Endowment for the Humanities, come together to commemorate the Latin Heritage month, highlighting the heritage and achievements of Hispanics and Latin Americans in the past and Present.
When I remember my Latin roots, it encourages me to keep going, to improve myself more and to fulfill all my goals. It is something that reminds me of where my values came from and who I am. Every Latin woman should not forget her flavor, her essence and what makes us great women.
There are many ways to make this month unforgettable, and show to the world what the Latino community has accomplished. As a Latin woman, we must exalt our valuable influence, especially in the world of fashion and beauty.
Don’t stop celebrating! Think about what you will do to remember how beautiful it is to be Latino, and how rich our cultural trend is.
In that search of how to celebrate Latinx Heritage Month 2021, I came across an Old Navy project, and I fell totally in love. Definitely, I had to support it and spread the word about this beautiful initiative.
Old Navy “Project WE” commemorate Latinx Heritage Month 2021
Old Navy has created a fascinating project. It’s about “Project WE Tee”, to celebrate Latino culture, and they tapped 3 artists to create a tee that honors our unique heritage.
Rubby, Favianna and Manuela are the 3 artists selected by Old Navy to launch this line of t-shirts with artistic prints in order to encourage creativity and inclusion through art.
If you buy a Old Navy Project WE tee, you will be helping with a $ 1 million donation to “Boys and Girls Clubs of America”; without a doubt it is a great incentive to support these young people, to increase their creativity and expression through art.
Each print on the Old Navy t-shirt is a work of art that conveys that feeling of inclusion through full of beautiful colors and symbols, which makes them super authentic.
I loved all the t-shirts, but one stole my heart, Manuela Guillén‘s, a beautiful shirt with a work of art that conveys the union of communities. I like Manuela’s work for its design, it is very harmonious and its colors are relaxing.
Manuela is an artist passionate about what she does, she has had multiple collaborations, which shows her professionalism and her experience in art. Her philosophy of life is to unite communities, something that is undoubtedly lost every day.
This project is a great opportunity to celebrate Latin Heritage Month 2021 with the purpose of uniting communities through art and other talents. Project WE tee is available to purchase now.
